Deicers on Your Car
Every winter, all over western Washington, especially in Kent and Auburn, the roads are treated with liquid deicer and road salt, which can be extremely damaging to your vehicle. Without getting too technical, when salt dissolves in water, it releases free-floating ions, which make the water a much better electrical conductor. This speeds up the electrochemical reaction between oxygen, water, and metal, which is commonly known as rust.
