Wheels and Tires

Wheels and Tires

Tires are critical to the overall appearance and safety of a car and yet are often overlooked. Cleaning and maintaining your tires can ensure better braking and traction for your car, thus minimizing the chances of an accident. Freezing temperatures can also damage your tires. Your tires should be treated with a quality tire dressing that not only keeps them looking good, but also acts as a barrier from the harsh elements of winter and the ozone that causes rubber to deteriorate. Considering the fact that tires are in continual contact with the road and suffer from the adverse effects of road tar, dirt, grime, water, salt, brake dust, grease, and more, it is understandable that they should require great care. Keeping your tires in good condition can also help them last longer. In fact, experts say that you can get as much as 50% more life out of your tires if you maintain them properly. At Detail Central we have a restoration process that can make your wheels look like new. By properly detailing them, you not only keep them looking good, but also reduce the risks of weathering and cracking in the sidewalls or failure of the wheels due to corrosion so they’ll last longer and keep you safe on the road.

Interior Condition

Interior Condition

Having a clean interior is an essential part of preventive auto maintenance. A dirty interior not only looks bad, but if not taken care of, it can even end up creating irreversible damage. For example, air vents can spread dust, dirt, and other allergens into the interior of the vehicle. This type of neglect creates issues like film build-up on hard surfaces such as glass, plastic, and gage covers. Dirt and debris can even work their way into buttons and switches and cause them to fail. Auto detailing is a great way to ensure that your car is both clean and comfortable. Having your vehicle’s interior detailed on a regular basis not only cleans the vehicle but protects it from further wear and tear, future dirt and grime, and the general use of the interior of the vehicle. Detail Central’s auto detailing crew will remove any unpleasant odors and take care of unsightly stains on upholstery and carpets. We will also clean and dress the vents, instrument panel, and trim to protect surfaces from fading and help prevent cracking and discoloration of the dash panels. In addition, we will vacuum the seats, carpet, and trunk or rear cargo area, and use hot water extraction to clean and sanitize the carpets and floor mats. Windows will be properly cleaned inside and out, as well as all cloth and leather surfaces. Not only does interior auto detailing greatly improve your car’s appearance, it also means a healthier, happier driver.

Improved Lighting Ability

Improved Lighting Ability

One of the things we do at Detail Central is to make sure that your headlights and taillights are clean and in excellent condition. Even small amounts of dirt or UV damage on your lights can cause a significant reduction in nighttime visibility. As you know, the streets around Kent and Auburn are so dark during the winter that we absolutely require clear and clean headlights to see and be seen. Professional headlight restoration is a long lasting, affordable solution that can help you see clearly and keep you and others safe on the road. The process not only restores the headlights, but it also enhances the outer appearance of the car. In fact, doing so should be just another part of your regular auto maintenance checklist. Our reliable auto detailing crew can clean and fix dirty, foggy headlights and get them in proper shape for night driving for far less than what it would cost to purchase new ones. Get the job done right the first time by getting a professional detailing at Detail Central. Your headlights will be crystal clear and ready for our roads.

Deicers on Your Car

Deicers on Your CarThis winter has been a particularly icy one. All over western Washington, especially in Kent and Auburn, the roads have been treated with a liquid deicer or road salt which can be extremely damaging to your vehicle. Without getting too technical, water containing lots of free floating ions (like sodium and chloride ions from dissolved salt) kick the electrochemical process into high gear. This results in what is commonly called rust. To make matters worse, as temperatures increase in the spring the rust reaction speeds up. The warmer temperatures also mean more moisture in the air, adding to the destructive equation. Deposits of salt can build up in wheel wells and under the chassis. Given enough time, these deposits can eat right through your paint and undercarriage, causing damage to the vehicle that isn’t easily repairable. Deicer or road salt can be one of the best reasons to regularly detail your car. Having a high-quality wax applied at the beginning of the winter season and maintaining a regimen of professional car detailing will help prevent rust and keep your car looking great.
